What Steel Fixing and Formwork Entail
Steel fixing involves the positioning and securing of steel reinforcing bars (or ‘rebar’) and steel mesh used to form the framework for reinforced concrete in construction projects. Using the engineer’s drawings, different types of bars with appropriate spacers and ties to keep them in position are used to build cages or casts that will keep concrete in place while it is setting. Positioning the steel in the correct place is critical to provide the strength the structure requires. Formwork refers to a permanent or temporary mould that’s used to shape the concrete structure.
